This song reminds me of Jonathan for a reason. I'm not sure why but maybe it's because he is my firstborn and seeing him grow up makes me very wistful.
"15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live"
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live"
He is the oldest of 5 children. And so everything he does is the "first". First to go to Kindergarten, first to get braces, first to have his heart broken, first to drive and soon he will be the first to graduate.
It's gone by too quickly. But I have treasured every moment of being his mommy.
He has so many decisions to make in the next few weeks. He scored very high on his military test and can have any job he wants if he enlists in the Air Force. He also spoke to an Air Guard recruiter who told him about the benefits of joining the reserves while he is in college. Jonathan wants to be a surgeon. He is very driven and I have no doubt whatever he decides to do, it will be the right thing.
But I can't help but look back over the years and get very teary eyed. He was my first baby after all and we were very close. I was a young mom (only 19 when he was born) and he quickly became my world. My job has been to be his protector and soon I am going to have to learn to let him go off in this world and become a man.
There has been no greater blessing in my life than being a Mom. When all is said and done and my time on earth is over, I hope that is what is remembered most about me. I was born to be a mom to some really great kids.
