Snow Day

This is the view from my back porch today.

A beautiful, peaceful snow. The air smells so clean and fresh.

But there are daffodils peeking thru the winter white and spring (which seems to have arrived in February) is close.

I love winter so this warmer weather was disappointing for me. But for the many people who are struggling now to pay for gas, I am sure the warmer weather was a blessing.

I heart snow!

Merry White Christmas

We woke up at 530am on Christmas morning. And I'm glad we did. Our plans were to leave Richmond on the 26th but as snow began falling we had to make a quick decision to head for NC and fast.

I am glad we left when we did. The snow had been falling for just about 1 hour when we arrived at my mom's house.

By this morning, we had 6" in North Carolina. There is no way we could have driven in so much snow from Richmond.

So we are enjoying a Merry White Christmas!

Snowed in!

Whew. We are enjoying an early blast of winter in Virginia this week! We had about 2" of snow Sunday evening and this morning it began to snow and hasn't slowed down much.

It's more work for me when the kids are all out of school than when they go!

Karsen isn't happy that she is having to share me so much today with the other kids.

We have had a busy morning. We made four batches of chocolate chip cookies, made grilled cheese & ham sandwiches for lunch, went sledding and then enjoyed hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies.

Getting 3 out of 5 kids ready to play in the snow took some effort!

But I love days like this when we are all snowed in together.

Inside........

The house is Christmas ready.

Presents are under the tree.

Stocking are hung by the chimney.....with care even.

It is a warm and toasty atmosphere.

But outside it is a winter wonderland! And its still coming down!

Over 9 inches so far.

Snow is Coming!

A few months ago my dear sweet cousin Grady (he is more like a nephew to me) wrote God a letter.

He asked God for help with his math. He asked God for help in dealing with Papa's death.

And he asked for snow.

Snow doesn't happen too often in central NC.

Especially a lot of it at once and even more especially it doesn't happen in December.

Well, God decided to give Grady an early Christmas present.

NC is expecting a lot of snow and so is the area in Virginia where we moved.

We are so excited!

Let it Snow Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Grady knows where to go for help.
