During Easter we made a quick trip home for three days WV to see John's side of the family. My sister in law had a photographer come by MawMaw & PawPaw's house to take a family portrait. This is no easy task considering my husband is the youngest of five children.
We had over 20 people to pose!
It was totally worth the trouble. Pawpaw isn't responding well to his second round of chemo. This could be the last family portrait. It was bittersweet but something we will all treasure.
Easter was a day full of family fun. Church services followed by a huge family brunch at the Embassy Suites in Charleston. Being part of a huge family is never boring! MawMaw & PawPaw's house sits on over 5 acres of lush green land so you are able to sit outside and enjoy every minute of being there on the front porch watching all the grandkids.

While in WV we also took the time to tour the state capital which is stunning in early spring. The tulips were spectacular and the kids enjoyed the free cultural center. I loved looking at the antiques that were on display.

We visited the coal miner exhibit literally hours before the tragic mine explosion at the Upper Big Branch coal mine one hour south of Charleston.

Back at MawMaw & Pawpa's house, the kids played outside. With over 10 grandkids, a basketball or baseball game is never out of the question.

PawPaw wasn't feeling very well. His chemo has left him very tired and weak but he loved sitting in his recliner with the screen door open watching all of his grandbabies laugh and play.
It reminded me so much of Papa Bud and how he used to sit by his window so he could watch the kids play outside. We are still praying for a miracle that PawPaw's cancer will be cured.
